Naga City is a Pilgrim City famous for the Peñafrancia Fiesta. Home to Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia, Bicol’s patron saint, Naga City draws thousands of devoted Catholics from all over the country and other parts of the world every September in celebration of the Peñafrancia Festival.
The Carmen Hotel is the perfect place to stay during the festival as it sits between Peñafrancia Avenue and the Naga River, and offers a unique vantage point for both the Traslacion and the Fluvial Procession.
Places of Interest for Peñafrancia Fiesta Pilgrims
- Basilica Minore de Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia (a.k.a. Naga City Basilica)
Pilgrims come here to visit a replica image of and to pray to Our Lady of Peñafrancia. The Parish Church of the Brgy. Peñafrancia is located at Peñafrancia Avenue, and it is from this parish church that the Traslacion Procession starts. This is also the permanent home of the image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
- Naga Metropolitan Cathedral (a.k.a. Naga Cathedral)
The cathedral is the end point of the Traslacion Procession, which is Our Lady of Peñafrancia’s procession from Our Lady of Peñafrancia Shrine to the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral. It is in the Naga Cathedral that the image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia is housed after the Traslacion Procession until the day of the Fluvial Procession.
